Executive Function and Self-Regulation Skills are the mental processes that enable us to plan, focus attention, remember instructions, and juggle multiple tasks successfully according to the Harvard University Center on the Developing Child. The lessons that follow are designed to help students learn and practice executive functioning skills by breaking down project work into manageable pieces.
Unlike other lessons that have a defined beginning and end, the Minecraft World is an ongoing experience. Teachers can continue to use the Minecraft World as a framework for any project or lesson in any content area (science, geography, social studies, writing, mathematics, and so on). The more students work in the World, the more opportunity to work their executive functioning skills.
